Detailed Day Wise Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – Atlas Mountains – Ait Benhaddou – Draa Valley – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)
We start early, leaving Marrakech behind as the city slowly fades into open roads and mountain views. Your driver/guide will pick you up from your accommodation around 7:15 a.m., and we’ll begin the journey toward Morocco’s deep south.
Before long, we’re climbing into the High Atlas Mountains, following the winding road of Tizi n’Tichka Pass. We’ll stop at viewpoints along the way—just enough time to breathe in the fresh air, take photos, and really feel how quickly the landscape changes.
Our first major stop is Aït Benhaddou, the famous fortified village built from earth and straw, and now protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walking through its alleyways feels like stepping into an old desert legend—kasbah walls, hidden corners, and views that make you understand why so many films were shot here. After the visit, we’ll enjoy lunch nearby.
From there we continue past Ouarzazate, Morocco’s film city and desert gateway, then head south toward the long ribbon of green that is the Draa Valley. This part of the drive is a favorite: palm trees, quiet villages, and ancient kasbahs appearing between the hills. We’ll make a few easy stops for photos and short breaks.
By late afternoon or early evening, we reach Merzouga, where the first dunes of Erg Chebbi rise from the horizon. After a short rest, you’ll meet your camels and set off into the sand at the best time of day—sunset. The dunes glow, the light softens, and the Sahara feels endless.
At Merzouga Luxury Desert Camp, a warm welcome is waiting. You’ll enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, then sit around the fire with Berber music and a sky so clear you can lose track of how many stars you’re seeing.
Day 2: Merzouga (Erg Chebbi) – RissaniI – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate – Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
Wake up early if you can—watching the sunrise over the dunes is one of those moments you never forget. After sunrise, we head back to camp for a fresh breakfast and a chance to wash up and relax for a bit.
Then it’s time to leave the Sahara behind. You’ll ride your camel (or transfer by 4×4, depending on the option) back to Merzouga, where our journey back to Marrakech begins.
Our first stop is Rissani, a historic desert town known for its lively atmosphere and traditional architecture. If timing allows, we’ll take a short walk or stop for photos—this area is full of classic desert gateways, old buildings, and authentic local life.
From there, we continue along the scenic road through the Draa Valley, one of Morocco’s most beautiful palm-filled valleys. We’ll make a couple of relaxed stops along the way to stretch, enjoy the views, and take pictures of the palm groves and ancient kasbahs that appear between the hills.
We’ll pass through small villages such as Nqob and Tamnougalt, where the landscapes feel quiet and timeless, before reaching Ouarzazate again. This is a perfect place for a break and lunch at a local café or restaurant.
After lunch, we start the final stretch back to Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains once more via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Expect a few scenic stops along the way, especially if the light is good for photos.
By early evening, we arrive back in Marrakech and drop you off at your hotel—usually around 8:00 p.m., depending on traffic and stops.
